Make your own mini christmas crackers

Today I am going to show you how to make a mini Christmas cracker. They are very easy and quick to do.

Image

All you need are these few things.

-Double sided tape – scissors – two short lengths of ribbon – a  cracker snap – a few sweets/chocolate – a small rectangle of Christmas wrapping paper  – a piece of cardboard roll.

Image

Cut up a small cardboard roll like this and use the big piece.

Image

Put a small piece of double sided tape in the roll and stick your cracker snapper in it. Like this.

Image

Put a piece of tape on the outside of the roll and wrap your wrapping paper around the tube.

Image

Make sure the wrapping paper is sticking out at either side of the tube.

Image

Squeeze one side of the wrapping paper and tie the piece of ribbon around it.

Image

Cut the cracker snap so you cant see it. But not too short or when you pull the cracker it wont snap.

You can now stuff your sweets/chocolate at the other side of the cracker.

Tie the other side up and now you have the finished mini cracker.

Decoupage

Today I have decoupaged these two foam figures. One is an angel and the other is a gingerbread man. I covered them in some christmas wrapping paper and when we get our christmas tree I will hang them up on it.ImageI have also finished Decoupaging a small wooden christmas tree.

Image

I have wrapped some Christmasy fairy lights around it

Image

I do think that it looks better in real life than these photos.

Hopefully it’ll look nice when we get our xmas tree and get the rest of our christmasy decorations out.

Friut pizza’s

A few days ago I tried out a pizza with beetroot, apple and cheddar cheese. I followed Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s recipe but halved the pizza dough so it made 1 large pizza. I didn’t actually think i would like apple and beetroot together but it surprised me and I did enjoy it. The link for the recipe is here-

ImageAbove is a picture of the pizza I made.

After trying the beetroot and apple recipe I wanted to try Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s other fruit pizza recipe which is pear, spinach and blue cheese. Although I swapped the blue cheese for Lancashire crumbly. I also thought this one was really tasty.  I didn’t get a picture of this one but here is the link –

Pumpkins, shortbread and a cafetiere cosy…

This week I have Made some cherry shortbread. I used a Mary Berry recipe from her book “Fast cakes”.

I was actually quite impressed with my shortbread, as I have never made any before.

Image

We have had a pumpkin from our allotment this week!

We made some African stew with it. Its one of my favorites, so I am making another batch today to use some of the left over pumpkin up. I was also thinking of making some Pumpkin hummus too. We have probably got another 10 pumpkins still at the allotment!

Allotment

We went down to our allotment again today.

A day at the Allotment

Today we went down to our allotment, we haven’t been down for more than a week so it was interesting to see what had grown and what was ready to pick…

This pumpkin had snapped off its stem but we left it out in the sun and it is now ready to use!

Image

We have got some more pumpkins still on the plant but they need a bit more sunshine.

Image

We dug up a bowl of potatoes. These look really nice and are quite big.

Image

These Beetroots are also really big.

Image

We also collected some runner beans (fudge, our dog, loves eating these:)

Image

We didnt pick any leeks yet, but they are doing really well.

Image

Our cucumbers are still coming, we have had loads of these this year.

Image

Here are some sun burst squash (I have made a African stew with this squash before, which is delicious)

Image

We have also had masses of courgettes this year and there are still flowers on the plants!

Image

Image

These are our first plums!

Image

Image

Our apples are doing well, but they are not quite ready yet (the pips are still white).Image

We have picked all our onions and we just leave them in our shed to dry to out.

Image

This year we have done extremely well with carrots (usually we get carrot fly)

Image

Our sweetcorn are doing okay, but are not ready yet.

Image

This is our first pick of Swede, they look great!

Image

These cabbages look really nice!

Image

We pulled out a parsnip, to see if they were ready and they are slightly too small.

Image

We got loads of Raspberry’s and one blackberry (we are making a trifle with some of these)!

Image

We also got a few blueberry’s.

Flower arranging

Today me and my mum have been having a go at Flower arranging!

We have never tried this before but it was fun and I would definitely do it again.

We used flowers and greenery from our garden, which included orange Crocosmos, Purple Buddleia, Sweet peas, Lavender, Ivy, Fern and Common toadflax.

This one is my Mums-
